Demolishing and cleaning up turned out to be the most exhausting aspects of the renovation. Initially, we intended to only change the house layout and interior. However, as Jeff continued with the demo work, it became clear that the house had been constructed with cost-cutting measures and possibly lacking in quality. It made us question whether we wanted to reside in a house built on an unstable foundation. I think you already know our answer here..
Let's just freaking tear everything out and start fresh to get things right from the beginning!
First floor

Removed walls after having samples tested for asbestos level.

After removed the ugly nonsense brick wall in the first photo:

More walls removed..

And the worst of the worst: removing insulation!

Basement
DYK that you can recycle old (inefficient fireplace) if you're a resident at King county for $350 each? They were super heavy though. One was 700lbs and the other was 450lbs. Oh well, at least we got paid hauling them.

Roof:

We were able to reuse some materials (rocks to rebuild our side road, recycle the fireplaces with King County, kept some fireplace cinderblocks, etc.) but unfortunately, the majority was not reusable.

Front door:

Windows:

Trusses:

Lights:

After a sh** tons of work, this is the result we've been looking for: a clean slate for our future family home :).
